PDF Too Large for a Job Application?
Read the upload error, record the actual limit, and keep a copy of the original. Then reduce file size without removing material the application requires.
Record what the form actually requires
Check the file-size limit, accepted format, number of attachments, and any page requirements. A 200KB search result is not a universal rule for recruitment or examinations.
If the error is about format or an unreadable file, compression alone may not solve it.
Choose a method for your material
A text-based CV and a scanned certificate can respond differently. In the PDF compressor, choose a level and compare the actual result size. The current tool has no target-size input.
For images that must become one PDF, use JPG to PDF first and check the output separately.
Check before uploading again
Open the downloaded file. Review names, contact details, dates, certificate numbers, signatures, and stamps. Confirm that all required pages are present and the result is within the form’s actual limit.
To compare another level, reset or re-add the original rather than expecting completed files to change automatically.
If it is still rejected
Use the new error message to decide what to change. When size is still the problem, return to the source editor and review oversized illustrations or export settings.
Do not delete required evidence just to reach a size. If details become unreadable, keep a clearer version and ask the recipient about acceptable alternatives.
